Thursday Jan 16th
7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Leadership Handover: Our new president, Matt Rensberry will lead this meeting. This meeting will set the pace and tone for the meetings, workshops, and club projects this year, so bring your questions and suggestions! There may be a raffle for items in inventory, along with examples and discussion about basic beekeeping equipment. We’ll be in the Azalea Room (first door past the restrooms on your left). We’d love to have you join us!
Saturday January 18th
9:00 am – 11:00 am
(or until we’re satisfied questions have been answered!)
We’ll perform regular inspections in each hive, get current varroa count samples (both sugar and alcohol shake methods), with demonstrations! Will treat with apivar (anticipating bigger flow in a month or so), and demonstrate oxalic acid vaporization treatment (at a distance, since the vapors are extremely caustic!).
When visiting the apiary: Do not wear leggings, shorts, skirts and dresses, or all dark clothing. Try to wear denim jeans and light colored clothing so as not to agitate the bees. If you are not wearing proper protection you will not be permitted in the apiary. If you have any questions please contact us, and we would be happy to advise.
