Hi Folks,
OBBA will have a workshop instead of an April meeting. Our first this year!
We will be meeting on a little different date and time so please make a note of it.
Meet at the Extension Offices at 6021 S. Conway Road, Orlando on SATURDAY April 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
We will be moving OBBA bees into an area adjacent to the Extension offices. If you plan to participate please bring the following:
1. Gardening gloves
2. A few black trash bags
3. Garden tools like hedge trimmers and small branch nippers
4. Rake, shovel, etc.
We will need to clear an area on this property to put the bees. We have still not located our hive stands but we have purchased concrete blocks to put the hives on. We only have the four hives so we don't have to clear a big area, but we're not sure what type of vegetation we will encounter.
Also bring:
1. Bee veil
2. Smoker
3. Hive tool
After we get the bees situated, we can break for lunch. After lunch we can have a beginning beekeeper lesson or just look in on our bees to see what they need. This is your opportunity to get your hands on some bees if you are new to beekeeping.
We do have access to the classrooms/bathrooms that day.
We are trying to have a food truck (BBQ) swing by between certain hours but have not yet nailed that down, so plan to bring your lunch or run up to a fast-food place.
See you there!
